Job Title: Production Operative – Mixing
Location: Bridgwater, Somerset
Salary: £26,208 per annum
Working Hours: Monday to Thursday, 7:00am – 5:30pm (40 hours per week)
Contract Type: Permanent (with an initial 6-month probationary period and regular performance reviews)
Start Date: ASAP (subject to interview and Basic DBS check)
A well-established manufacturing company in Bridgwater is seeking a Production Operative – Mixing to join its skilled production team. This is a hands-on, full-time position ideal for someone with a background in industrial or warehouse work, especially within a process-driven or chemical-handling environment.
As a Production Operative in the Mixing department, you will be directly involved in the precise formulation of chemical mixtures used in various industrial applications. Your daily responsibilities will include:
Accurate weighing and measuring of raw materials according to batch specifications, with meticulous attention to detail
Manual handling of heavy and sometimes awkward containers—physical fitness and awareness of lifting techniques are essential
Recording production data by hand and digitally to ensure traceability and quality compliance
Operating within clearly defined COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) procedures to maintain a safe working environment
Preparing, mixing, and transferring materials between process stages while adhering to strict hygiene and safety protocols
Collaborating closely with colleagues to meet production deadlines while maintaining high standards
Maintaining cleanliness and safety of the work area and equipment in accordance with Health & Safety requirements
Previous experience in a production, warehouse, or manufacturing setting
Ability to work with precision and attention to detail, particularly when measuring or handling chemicals
Confident in basic arithmetic and record-keeping
Physically fit with a strong understanding of proper manual handling techniques
Comfortable wearing PPE, including respirators, goggles, and safety boots
A team player who can also take initiative when working independently
Willingness to undergo a Basic DBS check prior to employment
Desirable Qualifications/Experience:
Previous exposure to chemical manufacturing or mixing processes
Awareness or certification in COSHH
Valid forklift or pallet truck licence
Familiarity with production documentation and stock control
