Barnet SEMH/Therapeutic School - Teaching Assistant Role

Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children with special educational needs?

This School is an independent therapeutic special school in Barnet seeking dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to join their growing team in September. The school supports children and young people with needs including Autism, ADHD, anxiety, speech and language difficulties, and social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH).

The Role

In this role, you will work alongside outstanding teaching and support staff to help students reach their full potential inside and outside the classroom. You will support teaching and learning, implement, and support the targets set out in the Individual Education Plan. You will contribute to creating a happy, challenging, and effective learning environment, establishing rapport with children, engaging them, and keeping them focused and motivated.

The School is looking for:
  • Experience working with SEN or a genuine interest in supporting young people with additional needs
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach to behaviour and learning
  • A strong team player with good communication skills
  • Willingness to engage in ongoing training and development
  • Previous experience with Autism, SEMH, or speech and language needs is desirable
