Are you an experienced IT Manager or Infrastructure Manager looking for a hands-on role with broad technical exposure and the opportunity to shape infrastructure across both on-prem and cloud environments? This role offers the best of both worlds – a strong focus on in-house systems and virtualised environments, alongside growing investment in Azure and cloud platforms.

The business develops industry-leading automation and data management software used in R&D and testing environments – including fuel cells, batteries, propulsion systems and more. They support a globally distributed software development team and operate with agile principles, innovation, and a people-first culture.

Your background as an IT Manager:

  • Proven experience managing on-premises infrastructure (Windows, Linux, VMware).

  • Experience leading or mentoring a small IT team.

  • Knowledge of networking – routing, firewalls, switches, VPNs, proxies.

  • Experience with cloud infrastructure – ideally Azure (GCP is a bonus).

  • Strong understanding of IT security principles and incident response.

  • Good organisational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Degree-qualified or equivalent industry experience.

IT Manager responsibilities:
The company operates a broad range of internal IT systems, from development support tools to office IT infrastructure.

  • Day-to-day management of a small internal IT team.

  • Maintain VMware-based virtual infrastructure and networking systems.

  • Administer Windows and Linux servers, both on-premises and cloud-hosted.

  • Manage laptop and desktop support, and liaise with external suppliers.

  • Oversee internal network administration and performance.

  • Support Microsoft 365, Teams, and SharePoint.

  • Contribute to cloud infrastructure (primarily Azure) and development environment support.

  • Support software build and deployment tooling, CI/CD systems and DevOps platforms.

  • Participate in cybersecurity awareness and internal security policies.
