What you need to know about us...

The Gym Group is not like your average gym! To our members, we're the lowest cost nationwide 24/7 gym with over 240 gyms and counting!

Our teams are fun, welcoming, engaging, and inclusive. We challenge our limits and push ourselves to impact positive change with our goals and initiatives. We take steps into new areas with a real and authentic purpose — it's our mission to break down barriers to fitness for all.

We're #1 in our industry when it comes to our values, culture, and our people — check out Glassdoor if you don't believe us. We offer a fantastic place to work in a great culture. We have been recognized by The Sunday Times as one of The Best Places to Work, which is all down to our great leaders and exceptional teams.

Despite being one of the leading budget gym chains in the UK, there's nothing budget about our investment into our people. We have retained GOLD in our Investors in People award for the last 6 years and silver in wellbeing last year.

We are recognized as a disability-confident and inclusive employer, which we are truly proud of. We have a brilliant team and opportunities for development and growth, with support for success. Having recently undertaken significant digital projects, our plans are to keep being innovative, creative, and agile in all that we do.

What you need to know about the role...

This is a pivotal leadership role at the heart of our digital trading engine. You'll lead our paid media strategy across digital and offline channels — from PPC, paid social, and YouTube to TV, radio, and OOH — ensuring we reach, engage, and convert new members at every stage of the funnel.

You'll shape our acquisition trading strategy as part of the wider Commercial & Marketing senior team, collaborating closely with eCommerce, CRM, analytics, brand, and creative leads. Whether supporting new gym openings, optimizing regional campaigns, or maximizing core trading performance, your focus will be on impact, performance, and growth.

You'll work closely with our agency and platform partners to plan, execute, and optimize campaigns — using data, test-and-learn frameworks, and strong commercial instincts to deliver results.

About you...

We're after a commercially-savvy media leader with a passion for performance. You'll need:

  • 8-10+ years' experience in digital acquisition and performance marketing, ideally in fast-paced, direct-to-consumer environments
  • Deep understanding of subscription-based trading models and metrics like CPA, ROAS, LTV, churn, and conversion
  • A track record of owning media strategies and budgets across paid search, social, affiliates, and ATL channels
  • Proven ability to extract actionable insights from complex data — and use them to drive smart decisions
  • Strong cross-functional skills, able to work across creative, tech, pricing, and commercial teams to deliver integrated campaigns
  • Curiosity, ambition, and a test-and-learn mindset — always looking for what's next

Additionally, the following would be an advantage...

  • Experience with platforms like Google Ads, Meta, DV360, Smartly, GA4, and affiliate networks (e.g., CJ, AWIN)
  • Familiarity with media mix modelling, attribution techniques, and incrementality testing
  • Comfortable managing complex agency relationships and multi-million-pound budgets
