Location: National Support Centre, London, SE1 / Hybrid working

Contract: Full time, fixed-term one-year contract

The Marine Society & Sea Cadets (MSSC) is a vibrant and growing charity delivering life-changing nautical adventures for young people through the Sea Cadets, providing them with the best possible start in life. We also offer personal and professional development opportunities for seafarers through the Marine Society. Working with our staff, cadets, and volunteers, we have developed a vision and five-year strategy to enhance our impact and support our community.

We are currently seeking a Senior Training Design Officer to join the Sea Cadet’s Learning Development team.

If you enjoy creating engaging, high-quality session plans, activities, and resources for indoor and outdoor learning, this could be the role for you.

Responsibilities
  1. Create engaging learning activities and sessions.
  2. Collaborate with subject matter experts to ensure session accuracy and practicality.
  3. Promote session use by engaging volunteers at all levels.
  4. Manage the creation of instructional videos to support learning.
  5. Participate in training reviews and evaluations.
  6. Advise on the development of inclusive learning materials.
  7. Support active collaboration and sharing of best practices.
  8. Lead working groups to empower young people in their learning journey.
Requirements
  • Experience in creating engaging learning activities.
  • Experience designing outdoor learning.
  • Proficiency in writing high-quality session plans.
  • Experience working with young people.
  • Experience collaborating with subject matter experts.
  • Demonstrable project management skills.
  • Strong IT literacy.
Desirable
  • Knowledge of STEM subjects or community engagement.
  • Experience with e-learning platforms.
  • Video editing skills (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro) or graphic design skills (e.g., Illustrator, Canva).
  • Experience working with 9-12-year-olds and creating age-appropriate resources.
