Job Description:

Purpose of the Role

Create, correlate, and exploit our PU models to maximize performance for the 2026 season and new regulations, collaborating with our power unit partner and internal teams across Performance, Control Systems, Vehicle Design, and Race Engineering. Support vehicle performance optimization through setup and developing new concepts. Support events as part of the Mission Control team monitoring vehicle performance in real time.

Principal Accountabilities
  • Identify opportunities to improve car performance through high fidelity MRL PU models and integration with HPP PU toolchain.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Conduct pre-event PU simulations to identify robust control strategies across various conditions.
  • Support race events through live analysis to optimize PU exploitation.
  • Produce quality analysis suitable for audiences within challenging timeframes.
  • Develop tools to enhance performance analysis.
Role Dimensions

This role is within Vehicle Performance, Performance Analysis Group. It requires weekend work supporting F1 race events, based in the UK. The role reports to the Head of Performance Analysis within Vehicle Performance.

Job Requirements
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
  • Master’s degree or higher in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills with a data-driven approach.
  • Proven experience in a PU performance role in high-level Motorsport.
  • Deep understanding of vehicle systems interaction affecting performance.
  • Experience in track/race/simulator environments.
  • Proficiency in programming languages like Python, C++, or MATLAB/Simulink.
  • Experience with McLaren Applied toolset (advantageous).
