Band 6 Staff Nurse – Leopard Ward

Location: Great Ormond Street Hospital

Speciality: Respiratory HDU

Type: Full Time/Permanent (Part Time hrs considered)

Salary: Between £42,471 - £50,364 per annum inclusive (depending on experience)

We are looking for NMC-registered nurses to join Great Ormond Street Hospital (GOSH) to work in their well-established team within the Heart and Lung Directorate.

About the role

Leopard Ward is a Respiratory ward consisting of 14 beds, 6 of which being HDU. Leopard cares for children with a variety of acute and chronic respiratory conditions, including a variety of congenital anomalies, complex asthma, cystic fibrosis and empyemas/effusions requiring chest drains. Children requiring long-term ventilation via a tracheostomy and those requiring non-invasive ventilation are also nursed on Leopard Ward.

Requirements for this role

•NMC Registration (Child or Adult)

•Relevant nursing qualification with 1 year post-graduation experience

•HDU experience or HDU course

•Nurse in charge experience

•Non-invasive ventilation, long term ventilation, chest drain, and airway management desirable. The specific skills and competencies can be gained when joining the team

•Experience of working within a respiratory environment is desirable

•Experience of working with acutely unwell patients essential

•Ability to work well both in a team and on own initiative

•Good time management skills

•Excellent verbal and written communication skills

•Evidence of continuous professional development
