Join the Purbeck Ward Team

The Purbeck Ward team is known for their welcoming nature, enthusiasm, and dedication to providing exceptional patient care. We proudly support the FERF initiative, celebrating our achievements and the hard work of our trauma ward team each month.

Position Requirements:

  1. Qualified nurse with experience in an acute hospital setting.
  2. Ability to work well within a multidisciplinary team and independently.
  3. Adaptability to changing situations.

Purbeck Ward is a GOLD accredited trauma unit specializing in acute Orthopaedic trauma within the Wessex trauma network. We value the fast-paced, unpredictable nature of trauma nursing and our success in achieving positive patient outcomes in a friendly, supportive environment.

We offer support for professional development, including:

  • Level 1 Adult Ward Nursing for the Major Trauma Patient competencies.
  • TCAR training and Orthopaedic Nursing Study days.
  • Various educational opportunities at Dorset County Hospital.

The Orthopaedic unit provides an ideal environment to learn about the complex and rewarding field of Orthopaedic nursing, handling both trauma and elective cases. While our primary focus is Orthopaedics, we also care for patients from other surgical and medical specialties.

The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to provide high-quality, safe nursing care driven by patient experience and evidence-based practice. Effective and timely discharge planning is essential to optimize bed utilization.

At Dorset County Hospital, we pride ourselves on high-quality patient care and fostering a fair, inclusive culture for our staff. Our mission is to work in partnership to deliver compassionate services and create an environment where everyone can thrive. Our vision is healthier lives, empowered citizens, and thriving communities.

We celebrate diversity and are committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We welcome applications from under-represented groups.
