We are looking for Metering Technicians to join our Customer Excellence and Resilience Team in the following locations:
In this role, you'll spend much of your time working independently on-site. You should be self-motivated and eager to contribute to team goals. You'll be part of a skilled team managing proactive and reactive wholesale activities across Scotland. Our mission? To become a 'Great Wholesaler.' You'll collaborate with the Wholesale Service Desk, Revenue & Wholesale teams, and our Alliance Partners, and work with other stakeholders as needed.
What you’ll do
Your primary responsibility is resolving customer issues. Investigate problems, develop solutions, and keep all parties updated. Conduct routine repairs and maintenance on metering assets, prioritizing health and safety, including risk assessments and audits on Alliance Partners. Complete DOMS Impact Assessment Forms as required.
You will also perform surveys to understand customer supply arrangements for water and wastewater, including complex sites and dye testing. Plumbing skills for meter installation, exchanges, and disconnections will be advantageous.
Accurate reporting from your site visits is essential to provide License Providers with necessary information. Meeting targets by effectively handling metering tasks is crucial.
What you’ll need
Excellent customer service skills, preferably with plumbing knowledge. Familiarity with relevant regulations such as the Sewerage Scotland Act, Water Scotland Act, and Health and Safety at Work Act. Strong IT skills and clear communication, both written and verbal. Proficiency with digital tools and apps, report writing skills, and flexibility to work across various locations are required. Knowledge of DOMS policies, Hygiene Code of Practice, Streetworks (NRSWA), and a valid UK driver’s license are also necessary. Nice-to-haves include experience with Salesforce/Youreka, GIS/Geofield/Field Maps, and Microsoft Office suite.

The not-so-small print
This is a Grade 5 role with a starting salary of £29,800, progressing to £35,760 based on performance. Applications close at midnight on Sunday 8th June 2025. Please specify your preferred location(s) and include a cover letter explaining your suitability for the role.
