Salary: $125,000-$130,000 annually

As a Controller at ecoCFO, you will:
- Lead one or more client accounts, owning the client relationship and managing their back-office accounting systems.
- Oversee a staff accountant and collaborate with our FP&A and CFO teams while supporting the client's executives.
- Implement and operate back-office software and systems aligned with our clients' growth.
- Review and sign off on financial statements.
- Set up and run audit-ready accounting systems, building trust and transparency with stakeholders.
Responsibilities include:
- Managing daily operations of the accounting office.
- Overseeing general accounting, bookkeeping tasks, policy design, controls, and enforcement.
- Creating company and project projections and analyzing results.
- Reviewing, analyzing, and reporting on financial statements.
- Preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for management and boards.
- Determining KPIs and reviewing calculations and trends.
- Managing relationships with vendors and partners such as attorneys, CPAs, lenders, and benefits administrators.
- Handling external audits with CPA firms.
- Managing tax strategies, compliance, and annual tax preparation.
- Implementing new software systems for scalability and efficiency.
- Drafting and implementing policies based on GAAP principles.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance.
- Minimum of 10 years as a Controller or similar role.
- At least 15 years of GAAP experience.
- Strong knowledge of federal and state regulations; experience with DOE, DOD, NSF, SBIR grants is a plus.
- Experience in solar, manufacturing, or construction sectors.
- Familiarity with SaaS or similar models.
- Experience with revenue recognition and ASC606.
- Understanding of R&D expense treatment, sales tax, and ITC.
- CPA license (active or inactive).
- Experience with cloud accounting software like QBO, Sage Intacct, Netsuite, BILL, etc.
