Role Overview

As the regional HR expert for Europe, this role will partner with the business to navigate employment standards, compliance, and HR operations while ensuring alignment with local regulations. This position will also provide strategic thought partnership to business leaders, supporting people initiatives, timekeeping processes, benefits/payroll administration & compliance and workforce management across corporate, warehousing, and global teams in the region.

In this role, you will:

  • Be the main point of HR support for all UK, Germany, Netherlands, and France employees, answering questions related to benefits, leaves, payroll, and the full employee lifecycle.
  • Provide expert advice on labor law compliance for Europe, especially for the NL, Germany, and the UK, including employee relations, disciplinary procedures, and policy updates.
  • Conduct investigations, manage disciplinary actions, resolve employee grievances, and advise managers on employee relations matters in alignment with local requirements.
  • Partner with the Center of Excellence teams to develop and execute on policies and processes that are locally compliant while keeping a consistent global approach where possible.
  • Provide functional support to the payroll team to ensure each payroll is submitted timely and accurately.
  • Identify and address opportunities where people initiatives may be in support of key business strategies and objectives.
  • Serve as a trusted business partner and advisor to our European-based senior leadership team in all aspects of the employee lifecycle across our corporate and operations teams within the European market.
  • Partner with the global People team in planning and delivering on core People programs and initiatives that enable the organization to grow at scale.
  • Manage the day to day sickness/absence and leave management in partnership with our Global Benefits team.
  • Draft and amend employment contracts ensuring accuracy and compliance with local laws.
  • Complete employment verifications and provide required documentation in a timely manner.
  • Keep abreast of legal developments affecting HR, and ensure HR policies and practices adhere to local laws and align with company standards, while proactively managing legal risks.

We are looking for:

  • At least 5+ years of experience in a human resources business partnership capacity, influencing and coaching senior leaders.
  • Experience with business norms, customs, and employment standards specific to the European market, with a focus on Germany, UK and Netherlands.
  • Extensive knowledge of Dutch, German, and UK labor laws and experience working in multi-jurisdictional environments.
  • Must be fluent in English with the ability to connect US-based teams to European teams as needed.
  • Experience navigating local government systems in order to accomplish business related tasks.
  • Emotional intelligence and capacity to operate in an ambiguous environment with a distributed workforce.
  • Confidence to challenge current processes/standards to pursue continuous improvement.
  • Ability to create an optimal team member experience that also meets business needs.
  • Proven ability to handle multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills to manage and motivate a diverse team.
  • Excellent communication, detail-orientation, and organization abilities.
  • This will be a hybrid role with an onsite requirement (minimum 2 days) at our London warehouse/office space.
  • Willingness to travel to our Germany and Netherlands locations as needed to support the business.
