JOB DESCRIPTION

Join our dynamic team as a Credit Associate in the heart of London, where you'll play a pivotal role in shaping the future of emerging markets. As part of the Emerging Market (EM)/Emerging Europe team within Corporate & Investment Bank (CIB) Risk EMEA, you'll have the opportunity to work with a diverse portfolio of corporate, financial institution, multilateral, and public sector credit clients. This is your chance to make a significant impact within the larger EM Credit team.

As a Credit Risk Associate in the Emerging Markets team, you will be at the forefront of managing and developing credit relationships with key clients in the region. You will work closely with a team of experts to structure, negotiate, and document new transactions, while also managing ongoing credit relationships. Your role is crucial in facilitating trade finance and derivatives, ensuring smooth execution and syndication of transactions, and maintaining a deep understanding of the political and macroeconomic environment in the region.

Job responsibilities
  1. Serve as the Credit expert for a portfolio of Financial Institutions, Corporates, and Public Sector clients in the region.
  2. Take responsibility for obtaining approvals from the credit executive for new transactions, deal amendments, and ongoing portfolio management.
  3. Collaborate with senior Credit Officers on complex transactions.
  4. Work alongside IB coverage officers, Corporate Bankers, and product groups (FX, Derivatives, Trade Finance, Debt Capital Markets, and Commodities) during live transactions.
  5. Develop expertise in the region by staying informed about the political and macroeconomic environment and maintaining in-depth knowledge of clients in the portfolio.
  6. Lead due diligence meetings and engage with clients directly.
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Demonstrate strong credit skills and judgment, with a hands-on approach to analyzing credit and structure details.
  • Possess good knowledge of transaction structures, documentation, and banking products to assist with and sometimes lead the execution of new deals and amendments.
  • Exhibit strong communication and interpersonal skills, establishing credibility and trust with clients, product specialists, and credit executives.
  • Display strong analytical and numerical skills.
  • Ability to think laterally around risk, particularly outside of credit risk.
  • Relevant experience in a similar position/function in a comparable environment.
  • Degree qualified.
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
  • Experience in emerging markets
  • Familiarity with syndicated loans, bilateral loans, and complex derivatives.
  • Proven track record of managing a diverse portfolio of clients.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
