Job description

Female Support Worker for a young outgoing female - weekends only @ £13.74/hr - Whitley Bay - NE25

Are you a kind, caring individual looking for a part-time role? Do you have experience – formal or informal enabling people to access the community?
I am a 29-year-old young woman living in the Seaton Delaval area. I have a diagnosis of Cerebral palsy, I am a wheelchair user and I communicate using VOCA. I am looking for a female support worker to help me get out and about in the community to access social and leisure activities.
You MUST be:
  • Female
  • Over the age of 25 years (for insurance purposes)
  • A driver able to drive a medium sized, mobility vehicle
  • Full of life & young at heart, somebody who can build a friendly relationship with me as opposed to a 'carer'
I love being out and about; my favourite activities are shopping, eating out, going to the cinema, swimming or attending shows and concerts. I enjoy cookery but am not keen on arts and crafts. I would prefer somebody who shares my interests and is willing and able to actively engage in these activities with me.
The successful applicant will be:
  • Committed to the role, kind and caring.
  • Physically able to manage my wheelchair and support me with daily living tasks including personal care.
  • Happy-go-lucky with a caring but firm demeanor.
  • Somebody who can adapt to changing situations and learn on the job.
  • Experienced in providing care and support (Desirable not essential).
Rate of Pay: £13.74 per hour
Hours Breakdown:
6 hours per week preferably on a Saturday or Sunday. Hours of work 10:30am to 4:30pm.
  • Flexibility is possible around hours/days and some requirement for ad hoc evening work instead of weekends is also required.
  • Annual leave entitlement of 5.6 weeks pro rata per year.
A full Disclosure and Barring Certificate will be required prior to starting employment. The full cost of this will be met by the employer.
Where applicable, all training will be provided in the form of online training, on-the-job training, and demonstrations as required.
Two references will be requested prior to commencement of employment.
