Job description

Job Title: Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT Lead

The Royal Marsden Hospital, Europe's largest Oncology centre with sites in Chelsea and Sutton, is seeking a dedicated and motivated individual to join our Department of Nuclear Medicine, PET/CT, and Radioisotope Therapy.

Role Overview:

The successful candidate will work across both sites, supporting the Nuclear Medicine Teams alongside Deputy Leads and the Radioisotope Service Manager. They will be responsible for maintaining high standards of imaging, providing operational management, and supporting staff development.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Provide professional leadership and operational management of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT staff across both sites.
  2. Collaborate closely with the Radioisotope Service Lead, Deputy Service Leads, and Nuclear Medicine consultants.
  3. Manage operational issues and lead the implementation of new procedures and changes.
  4. Support Deputy Service Leads to ensure adequate staffing coverage during absences.
  5. Assist with quality improvement initiatives and service projects.
  6. Act as deputy for the Radioisotope Services Manager as required, demonstrating meticulous attention to detail and leadership during high-pressure situations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assess clinical justification of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT referrals in line with regulations and protocols.
  • Book appointments, evaluating clinical information for appropriateness and urgency.
  • Provide advice to patients regarding their referrals and procedures.
  • Offer guidance to imaging referrers within and outside the Trust.
  • Promote the hospital’s reputation as a centre of excellence in cancer imaging and treatment.
  • Modify examinations to optimize diagnostic information based on clinical data.
  • Adjust scanning parameters for individual patient needs.
  • Maintain excellent practical and theoretical knowledge of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT to support the team.
