Job Opportunity: Senior Lifeguard / Senior Recreation Assistant

GLL is currently recruiting for a Senior Lifeguard (Senior Recreation Assistant) to join Morden Leisure Centre in Merton. As a Senior Recreation Assistant, you will be passionate about the leisure industry. The Duty Manager role is highly varied, including tasks such as unlocking the leisure centre, setting up, ordering supplies, and ensuring everything is perfect for customers. During operational hours, duty managers handle customer queries, manage teams, and oversee the gym, pool, and other facilities. We prioritize your development and will provide training to enhance your skills in this diverse role.

Duty managers are expected to be quick thinkers, calm under pressure, responsible, and personable. This role offers a chance to progress into a Duty Manager position.

Salary: Up to £34,685.52 pro rata per annum

Annual leave: 248 hours pro rata per annum

Please note: This position requires shift work, including early mornings, evenings, and weekends, following a shift rota pattern.

What you’ll do:

1. Maintain a positive and welcoming image of the centre for customers and the public, providing professional service.
2. Assist customers with the use of facilities and activities, encouraging maximum usage of the Centre.
3. Prepare areas and equipment for sessions.
4. Oversee the efficient daily operations and services of the centre, ensuring security, cleanliness, customer supervision, and equipment checks are maintained.
5. Ensure all pool safety and operating procedures are in place.
6. Maintain good housekeeping systems and support management in energy conservation and resource maximization efforts.
7. Supervise all staff on shift, allocate work effectively, and perform other duties as required within the scope of the role.
8. Manage team members effectively, including recruitment, absence reporting, qualifications, appraisals, and discipline procedures.
