Radiology is a busy department providing X-ray, CT, MRI, Fluoroscopy, and Ultrasound services for the Emergency department, In-patients, and Out-patients. We provide 24/7 diagnostic services to the hospital using high-quality, up-to-date equipment.
Candidates will work a combination of 7.5-hour (5 days per week) or 9.25-hour shifts (4 days per week), including regular weekend working.
The successful candidate will be required to carry out a variety of duties within the Radiology department to assist radiographers, nurses, and radiologists during procedures as required. Working as part of a team is essential to ensure the day runs smoothly. They must be patient-focused and able to advocate for patients when necessary.
They will also need to handle telephone inquiries from various sources, prioritize their workload, and work unsupervised when needed.
It is essential to have a good level of general education and a basic understanding of IT. Good communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills are also required for this post.

We provide hospital services from two acute sites - Darlington Memorial Hospital and University Hospital of North Durham. We also have a centre for planned care in Bishop Auckland and provide care from community hospitals and over 80 community-based settings, including patients' homes.

From April 9th, 2025 - Healthcare assistants - You must have a minimum of two years of experience working within the NHS as a HCA for the Trust to consider sponsorship (we will only consider sponsorship if you meet this criterion and have a current visa expiring within 3 months).
Tasks may include patient care, organizing lists, effective communication with other departments, support for patients, moving and handling tasks, de-cannulation, preparing rooms for examinations, restocking equipment, chaperoning during intimate examinations, portering patients when required, and booking appointments.
