Job description

Our client's Property Consultancy team provides strategic advice and guides clients through a full spectrum of property consultancy, housing asset management, and compliance-related activities, focusing on stock condition surveys and EPCs. This role covers the south of England, so willingness to travel to project sites within London and the South of England is required.

Due to continued success and growth, they offer an opportunity for a property consultant with desirable stock condition and EPC knowledge. The role suits individuals from a residential surveying background or those with broad housing knowledge who have worked in residential sectors for several years.

Understanding client needs is essential, especially as many clients are under the housing regulator. Knowledge of who the regulator is and their operational standards helps deliver better service. Awareness of mobile electronic data capture systems is beneficial but not essential, as training is provided. Knowledge of HHSRS is crucial; understanding all 29 hazards and their impact on property performance and risk is necessary. Recognizing that each property and its residents are unique is important, as is a good understanding of decent homes standards.

The candidate should be comfortable managing several surveyors simultaneously and working professionally with clients via face-to-face meetings or Teams, including delivering challenging conversations confidently. The role offers challenges and opportunities for development in a dynamic sector.

Effective communication skills and project management experience are vital, as the role involves being a key contact for clients and surveyors. We will support skill development and professional growth within our team.

Key responsibilities include:
  1. Appointment, briefing, and coordination of surveyors.
  2. Assisting with mobile device setup and testing for data collection.
  3. Managing pilot surveys to test systems and procedures.
  4. Providing guidance to surveyors.
  5. Conducting energy assessments (training provided if needed).
  6. Completing stock condition surveys.
  7. Liaising with data analysts.
  8. Undertaking re-inspections, accompanied visits, and QA checks.
  9. Daily liaison with the survey team.
  10. Reporting progress and issues to the team and clients.
  11. Managing project-specific email communications, especially related to HHSRS.
  12. Supporting wider team activities.
  13. Staying updated on industry regulations and energy efficiency practices.
  14. Acting as lead surveyor/DEA on new projects.
Required skills and experience:
  1. Qualifications such as DEA are desirable, with knowledge of construction technology relating to residential accommodation.
  2. Ability to work both on-site and in the office.
  3. Essential knowledge of stock condition surveys.
  4. Knowledge of HHSRS and decent homes standards.
  5. Proficiency in Excel.
  6. Attention to detail, professionalism, methodical approach, and high intellectual capacity.
  7. Excellent oral communication skills to ensure high-quality project delivery within deadlines.
  8. Willingness to undertake ongoing training, including retrofit assessments, with full support from the firm.
