We’re looking for a dedicated and collaborative individual to support the delivery of our SMART metering programme. This role plays a key part in contract delivery, system data collection, and performance monitoring, ensuring the project runs smoothly across the Portsmouth Water supply area.
Ideal for someone with experience or interest in construction and metering, this is a great opportunity to build expertise in project and contract controls. You’ll work closely with the Programme Manager, internal teams, and external stakeholders, gaining hands-on experience with in-house and cloud-based reporting systems. If you're comfortable using Microsoft Office and passionate about learning and growing within the water industry, this role offers excellent potential for both personal and professional development.
What will you be doing?
Key Responsibilities
Support the delivery of high-level and detailed plans for SMART meter deployment
Create and update forecasts and communicate plans to internal and external stakeholders
Collaborate with suppliers to align resources and delivery capability with deployment plans
Monitor and report on the deployment plan, managing changes, risks, and opportunities
Produce reports and insights to support future planning, including progress analysis and corrective actions
Partner with contractors to address issues and resolve challenges collaboratively
Work with internal colleagues to ensure rollout aligns with strategic goals
Attend contractor meetings to gather updates and report on progress, issues, and contract performance
Assist the Programme Manager in contract administration
Support checking and approval of contractor payment applications for completed work
Collaborate with the Digital Services team on planning activities
Coordinate with Stores to manage materials orders and stock levels
Work with Communications and Customer Services to shape customer engagement campaigns
Liaise with Operational Customer Support and QHSE Supervisors to support targeted communications and quick resolution of issues
Raise works, purchase orders, and task orders as needed
Assist in preparing works information and documentation
Compile contract performance data using spreadsheets
Contribute to a supportive team environment and help achieve shared business goals
What do you need?
Skills, Qualifications & Competencies
Ability to build positive relationships across organisations and engage others to reach effective outcomes
Skilled at identifying patterns in complex data and resolving issues efficiently
Strong planning skills, able to prioritise and manage progress proactively
Comfortable in a dynamic environment and adaptable to change
Clear communicator, able to engage a wide range of stakeholders
Technologically confident, with experience in BI tools, SharePoint, Teams, and MS Office (Excel/Word)Attention to detail with strong document control and accuracy
Full UK driving licence required
Degree-level education or equivalent experience in a relevant field
Experience leading complex projects and/or programmes
Proven ability to develop practical solutions for effective delivery
Skilled in translating stakeholder and customer needs into actionable plans
Experience working with contractors under structured contract frameworks (NEC4 or similar)
