About the Team:

The Customer Support Technical Support Engineer is a technical expert acting as the primary contact between first/second line support and core engineering teams. You will handle work requests, both internal and external, that are routed for diagnosis and implementation, while updating customers. You will also identify application defects, test, and document them for the engineering teams to resolve.


Responsibilities:

  1. Manage work requests regarding issues, bugs, or customer problems, taking ownership through to resolution.
  2. Develop diagnostic and corrective SQL scripts to resolve customer issues or identify necessary patches.
  3. Reproduce technical problems, diagnose causes, identify solutions, and communicate updates to clients.
  4. Differentiate between application database, OS, network, and hardware issues, and own resolution processes.
  5. Analyze processes and recommend improvements, including maintaining the knowledge base.
  6. Participate in weekend on-call rotations for critical issues.
  7. Present complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  8. Collaborate with other teams to ensure application effectiveness and compliance with regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Training and experience with SQL Server and advanced SQL (e.g., MySQL, PostgreSQL, MSSQL).
  • Intermediate experience with C#, Visual Studio, ASP.NET; basic knowledge of Ruby, Java, HTML.
  • Analytical, organized, capable of managing multiple objectives independently and under deadlines.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Desire to become a technical reference within the team and advise on complex scenarios.
  • Customer-focused with the ability to quickly understand and define customer needs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Life Sciences, or equivalent experience.

Base pay is part of Medidata's Total Rewards, with eligibility for commissions. Benefits include medical, dental, life, disability insurance, a pension, and 25+ paid holidays annually.
