Interim Operations/Project Manager - Theatres Productivity

Location: Acute NHS Trust, Midlands
Contract Length: 6 Months
Start Date: ASAP
Rate: Band 8a–8b equivalent (within NHS agency cap)
Employment Type: Interim / Contract via Agency

An Acute NHS Trust in the Midlands is seeking an experienced and proactive Interim Operations and Project Manager to lead a critical project focused on delivering productivity and transformation improvements across its theatres services.

This role will be instrumental in supporting elective recovery and operational efficiency by enhancing theatre utilisation, streamlining processes, and embedding sustainable service improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the delivery of a focused improvement project targeting theatre efficiency, capacity, and performance;
  • Work in partnership with clinical and operational leaders across theatres, anaesthetics, and surgical services;
  • Identify, implement, and monitor initiatives to reduce delays, improve throughput, and optimise resource utilisation;
  • Use performance data and benchmarking to inform decision-making and track progress;
  • Establish strong project governance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement structures to ensure successful delivery;

Essential Requirements:

  • Substantial operational management experience within the NHS, ideally in theatres, anaesthetics, or surgical services;
  • Proven ability to lead complex transformation projects in an acute hospital setting;
  • Strong influencing, analytical, and organisational skills;
  • Available to start immediately or at short notice and commit to a 3 month contract;
