Description

Helix Design Group, a division of Shive-Hattery, is seeking an Architectural Project Manager with a background in the A/E/C industry and a passion for managing multi-discipline projects. We are looking for a teammate in our Tacoma, WA office with a strong desire to collaboratively unite the Client, Designer, and Contractor to deliver our client's desired outcomes.


This position primarily involves managing complex projects, but may also include overseeing entire programs. Program management requires accountability for a series of projects executed over time to achieve broad client goals. The role involves continual professional development through education, training, and experience, focusing on advanced project management concepts. Candidates are expected to have PMI's PMP certification or plan to obtain it within one year of achieving Project Manager 4 status.


This rewarding position requires teamwork, a passion for continuous improvement, a business mindset, and the ability to motivate both internal and external team members.

Responsibilities and Requirements
  • Participate in design and project management activities, including design discussions, idea generation, collaboration, and working with drawings, models, and 3D imaging formats.
  • As a licensed design professional, oversee non-licensed professionals, directing design, production, and coordination of technical documents. Create graphical images and perform design tasks in Revit.
  • Attend project and client meetings to explore business development opportunities.
  • Candidates should have 10-15+ years of architecture experience, with a professional degree in architecture (bachelor's or master's) or equivalent education and experience.
  • Obtain or plan to obtain PMI's PMP certification within one year of reaching Project Manager 4 status.
  • Manage and supervise project teams on medium to large projects, especially within federal, DOD, and civic sectors, demonstrating critical and creative thinking related to design processes.
  • Have a thorough understanding of architectural specifications, building codes, life safety codes, and ADA requirements.
  • Knowledge of programming, planning, and building performance is advantageous. Candidates should be motivated and creative, with experience designing projects of varying scales and complexities.
  • Possess strong understanding of building systems, with the ability to design independently and problem-solve effectively.
  • Proficiency in Autodesk Revit, SpecLink, and Microsoft Office is required; familiarity with AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Adobe Suite is beneficial.
