Aspiring Youth Worker - Restorative Practice - Mental Health - Education and Training - Ideal role for a Psychology/Criminology graduate with sincere aspirations within Criminal Justice and Probation – Woking

A focus on an October 24 start depending on your availability. This is a challenging school setting for boys that have a range of trauma and mental health based needs. For the right person, who has a genuine motivation to work with vulnerable young people and those at risk of offending, this role is ideal. The career progression routes are to roles such as probation officer, youth offending teams, and youth counsellors.

The Provision & LSA Role
  1. Specialist schools for students with social emotional needs and Autism aged 9-16 years old
  2. Focus on recovering from trauma through restorative practices and a holistic approach to learning
  3. SEMH, ADHD, Asperger’s, OCD, Dyslexia and a focus on Social, Emotional and Mental Health challenges
  4. Focus on learning and delivering key and personal/functional skills
  5. Practical, creative and vocational subjects that spark joy for the students and help them positively contribute to society
  6. Classes of 6-8 ranging on ability, interest, and age
  7. MAPA and ABA Training provided
  8. £85+ per day PAYE, Monday to Friday, 8.30am to 4.00pm

This is a Learning Support Assistant role that will put you into challenging situations that will build your foundations of experience. This is a specialist school where empathy and pragmatism are key. You will learn to focus on the holistic and therapeutic side of education.

Restorative Practice and positive reinforcement will be key skills in this LSA role in Woking. The role specializes in working with students who have Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs and Wellness concerns. You will play a vital role in helping to raise attainment among students, who all have Education Health Care Plans (EHCPs), SEMH needs, and associated learning difficulties.

Behaviour is only one aspect of this role; it is imperative that you have the academic skill to be able to raise academic attainment across a number of areas. The school offers a mix of vocational subjects such as computing, hairdressing, PE, and the performative arts as well as a core base of maths and English.
