M62 Corridor

Our client is a highly recognized motorcycle brand with a rich heritage in the UK and internationally. To support and develop their position within the UK motorcycle sector, we are seeking a Business Development Lead. This role will drive retail sales of motorcycles, non-motorcycles, and finance, as well as dealer profitability and customer satisfaction across the UK M62 corridor.

Reporting to the Sales and Dealer Development Manager for the UK, your responsibilities will include:

  1. Identifying current and future opportunities, leading by example, coaching, and working with dealer management and teams within the region. Develop brand-led initiatives focused on process excellence, growth, business improvement, and reinforcing success.
  2. Raising minimum standards at the dealer level to meet or exceed those set by the manufacturer.
  3. Supporting onboarding of new dealers and the existing network to achieve or surpass national market penetration of motorcycles, non-motorcycles, and finance.

Key responsibilities involve developing each dealer to meet sales objectives across:

  1. Motorcycles (model and mix)
  2. Genuine Motorcycle Accessories (GMA)
  3. Apparel
  4. Finance penetration via a retail finance partner

Assist dealers in identifying potential growth opportunities and creating action plans to improve in areas such as:

  1. Customer experience excellence
  2. Product visibility and reach
  3. Volume sales
  4. Dealer profitability
  5. Market penetration
  6. Standards, structure, process, and infrastructure as defined by the manufacturer

Ensure the development of dealer marketing plans covering:

  1. Community engagement
  2. Local events
  3. Riders clubs
  4. Support for national events and product launches
  5. Websites and online presence
  6. Social media

Additionally:

  1. Manage relationships between the manufacturer and dealer network through proactive planning, dealer visits, virtual visits, and effective remote management.
  2. Monitor and manage dealer ordering and stock to support target achievement.
  3. Coordinate communication between manufacturer, distributor, and dealer network regarding issues affecting dealer business.
  4. Support building and managing a quality dealership network to enhance customer experience, product availability, and brand reach.
  5. Provide timely, accurate reports on activity and performance.
  6. Share best practices within the area and nationally.
  7. Address dealer needs within the area.
  8. Collaborate across the organization.

Qualifications include a degree in business, marketing, or a technical field, along with:

  1. Proven experience in the motorcycle industry with retail management experience; experience in car retail may be considered.
  2. Understanding of dealership operations including sales, service, parts, accessories, and financial services.
  3. Ability to work independently in a dynamic environment.
  4. Credibility in delivering results through consulting and advising business owners.
  5. Strong networking, PR skills, and personal stature to represent the manufacturer.
  6. Ability to work from a home-based environment.
  7. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
