What Is the Opportunity?

We are looking for a Senior Associate Underwriter to join our Cyber underwriting team.

In this role, you will use your previous experience to produce and underwrite new and renewal business; making sound underwriting decisions throughout the policy lifecycle. You will provide superior service, ensure business retention, and respond effectively to new business submissions; collaborating with the team, Regional Underwriting Offices, Market Segment Colleagues, and other business partners.

Travelers Europe offers flexibility for hybrid work arrangements, typically involving three days in the office and two days remote, subject to policy changes.

What Will You Do?
  1. Underwrite and assess risks to maximize business growth and profitability, making decisions within your authority and providing comprehensive recommendations to leadership.
  2. Support Development Underwriters on new business, renewals, and mid-term changes, aligning with growth and profit objectives.
  3. Provide leadership and coaching to Associate Underwriters to foster their development.
  4. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, cross-selling relevant products.
  5. Maintain accurate underwriting documentation and adhere to standards.
  6. Align with Travelers’ underwriting strategies to meet financial targets.
  7. Build and maintain collaborative relationships across the organization.
  8. Seek training opportunities to enhance underwriting and sales skills.
  9. Develop relationships with brokers through visibility and disciplined management, supporting business goals.
  10. Assist in developing and executing sales plans to increase market activity.
  11. Participate in sales and underwriting meetings regularly.
  12. Work effectively as part of a team, supporting company objectives.
  13. Deliver exceptional customer service standards.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.
What Will Our Ideal Candidate Have?
  • University degree preferred.
  • Knowledge of the local insurance market.
  • Ability and desire to understand critical business issues and financial drivers.
  • Understanding of organizational and regulatory policies.
  • Basic knowledge of Lloyds Market factors is a plus.
  • Technical proficiency appropriate to underwriting authority.
  • Customer focus and positive broker interaction skills.
  • Analytical thinking and financial acumen.
  • Ability to identify problems or opportunities, analyze data, and support decision-making.
  • Understanding of finance principles related to underwriting profitability.
  • Relationship management skills.
  • Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) certification is preferred.
