This role is pivotal in supporting the finance team to ensure the accurate production of financial and management information, while also providing essential support to local management teams.

Your new role

As an Assistant Commercial Accountant, your responsibilities include providing essential support to the wider team by assisting with weekly and monthly reporting, encompassing trading performance, cost base analysis, and cash conversion. You support business segment management by attending local contract management and customer meetings as required. Additionally, you assist the Finance Business Partner with new contract mobilisations to ensure all financial reporting requirements are fulfilled. Your role involves preparing business segment management accounts, reporting packs, commentary, and analysis, as well as conducting analysis of WIP, debt, and cash positions on contracts. You also contribute to the preparation of quarterly forecasts and annual business plans, and complete balance sheet reconciliations.

What you'll need to succeed

You will need a keen eye for financial reporting, attention to detail, and a view to the bigger picture. How does the data sets your review and report on affect the wider business? You will need to have previous exposure to commercial finance or accounting roles, with expertise in IT packages (Microsoft Office, bespoke systems, Oracle).

Strong analytical skills, capable of managing large data volumes, and effective communication skills (written and verbal).
