Job description

This role reports to our Senior Technical Specialist and provides analytical testing services. The main job purposes/objectives are as follows:

  • Deliver a range of routine analytical testing programmes using expertise, problem-solving skills, excellent attention to detail, and practical skills to provide an effective service to customers.
  • Produce high-quality routine reports which require minimal amendment during checking.
  • Build a network of contacts internally and provide cover when required to assist other team members and external contacts.
  • Ensure all quality systems are kept up to date and followed.
  • Contribute towards meeting agreed targets on time.
  • Become familiar with the use and maintenance of a variety of analytical instrumentation.
  • Potential to take on more complex testing for the right candidate, once the routine testing is well understood, and as business needs require.

The successful candidate will possess the following skills and experience:

  • Graduate with a degree in Chemistry, Applied Chemistry, or Analytical Chemistry.
  • Alternatively, we welcome non-graduates who have suitable laboratory experience with GCSEs and A-Levels (A-C Grade) or equivalent.
  • Experience within a lab-based environment, which could have been obtained during a work placement and/or work experience.
  • Experience in water contact testing techniques would be advantageous but not a necessity.
