Job description

UHCW NHS Trust is seeking an Apprentice Occupational Therapist to join our Inpatient Therapy department.

  1. Role Overview: This developmental role involves attending University to complete an Occupational Therapy degree while working as a Therapy Assistant. This provides practical clinical skills and knowledge training to become a qualified Occupational Therapist.
  2. Initial Position and Progression: Starting as a Therapy Technician (Band 3), there is potential to advance to a Band 4 role upon demonstrating therapy competencies and clinical skills. After completing the degree, you will qualify as a registered Occupational Therapist and transition into a Band 5 Rotational Occupational Therapy post.
  3. University Options: The candidate's university will be Coventry, Derby, or Northampton, depending on the successful applicant.
  4. Additional Information: If already employed as a Band 4 Therapy Assistant Practitioner, please contact us for pay and progression details.
  5. Training Program: The program combines academic learning and work-based training, with placements in various health and care settings to ensure comprehensive exposure.
  6. Competencies and Pay: Completion of Band 3 Therapy Competencies is required within a set timeframe. Progression to Band 4 will include a pay increase reflecting enhanced skills. The role involves working within the Inpatient Therapy service, progressing towards a BSc in Occupational Therapy (Level 6), leading to a B5 position.
