Job description

SEN PE Teacher

Hays Education is supporting a local school in recruiting a PE Teacher to work with them during the summer term. The role begins in April and continues until the end of the academic year.

The details are as follows:

  1. The school is located in south Birmingham, approximately a 20-minute drive from the city centre. It describes itself as a focused and dedicated school with a strong ethos centered around young people.
  2. The school caters to children at KS3 level with social, emotional, and mental health challenges (SEMH).
  3. The role involves supporting children in class who have SEMH and some additional SEN.
  4. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 8:30 am - 3:30 pm, on a term-time-only basis.
  5. You will be required to plan, deliver, and assess PE lessons at KS3 level in line with the national curriculum.
  6. The school offers training to candidates who may not have experience working in SEMH settings.
  7. The successful candidate will have experience working with children with challenging behaviour and SEMH.
  8. You should have recent experience teaching PE at KS3, working with children with SEMH, and knowledge of de-escalation techniques.
  9. Hays Education can obtain recent satisfactory references reflecting this experience.
