Job title: Project Engineer Ref: 39667 Division: Asset Operations & Capital Delivery Location: Didcot - OX11 7AW, Newbury - RG19 3TL, Oxford - OX4 4XU, Reading STW - RG2 0RP, Slough - SL1 9EB, Swindon - SN2 2DJ Contract type: Permanent Full/Part-time: Full-time Hours: 36 hours per week, Monday to Friday Salary: Offering a salary up to £56,000 per annum depending on skills and experience. Plus a Car Allowance of £4,500 per annum. Job grade: B Closing date: 07/04/2025

Our Project Engineers manage all aspects of their projects including initial scoping of the need, competitively tendering the work, contractor procurement, site set up and inductions, and health and safety inspections, through to commissioning, training and handover to the operations teams.

What you will be doing as a Project Engineer:

  • Managing and delivering a portfolio of Mechanical, Electrical and ICA projects, with a typical value of £40,000 to £400,000 per project.
  • Responsibility for up to 15 live projects at any one time, with further projects in the scoping and tendering phase.
  • Developing innovative and modern solutions to operational problems, making our sites more efficient and delivering value for money for our customers.
  • Working with our operations teams and contractors to scope, define and cost solutions that are both cost-effective and have minimal risk. This includes the Controller of Premises for the site you are working at.
  • Delivering our zero-compromise health and safety attitude to all contractors working on your project.

What you should bring to the role:

  • Have a background in Engineering, such as Mechanical, Electrical or Civil Engineering.
  • Formal qualifications within these sectors are strongly encouraged.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple stakeholders simultaneously. This includes internal colleagues, site employees and external contractors.
  • Additionally, you will have the ability to work with minimum supervision, be self-motivated and driven, and use your initiative to deliver high-quality work.
  • Understanding of Health and Safety standards with particular reference to construction works including CDM.
  • Experience in Project Management is desirable.
  • Industry experience would be highly advantageous but not essential.
