Job description

Our client, a leading North East law firm, is recruiting a newly qualified Solicitor to join their Court of Protection team in Durham. The role would suit a trainee Solicitor who is nearing qualification as a Solicitor and can demonstrate at least one completed training contract seat within Court of Protection.

Responsibilities:

  • Dealing with a caseload of Court of Protection matters, acting on behalf of vulnerable clients who lack the capacity to make decisions about their own health and welfare.
  • Working with clients, deputyships, third parties, and local authorities.
  • Advising on all aspects of COP matters including deputyship applications, lasting powers of attorney, and health and welfare disputes.
  • Assisting in the preparation of court documents and attending hearings as required.
  • Working closely with families, carers, and professionals to protect the interests of individuals.
  • Supporting senior colleagues on complex matters and contributing to the team's business development initiatives.
