National Operations Centre Support Operative – Intermodal

Main Purpose of Job

To assist with customers in relation to our IT products. Vehicle Booking System (VBS), Gate Management system (GMS), Transport Operating System (TOPS), Terminal operating system (IPRO) and general office administration by providing a professional & efficient customer service.

Relationships

Reports to NOC Support Supervisor

Main Tasks of Job

  • Handling of customer enquiries.
  • Exception management, dealing with issues arising from VBS booking pre or during the automated gate process.
  • Input data to the relevant operational computer systems (TOPS, IPRO ETC) so that container movement records & container storage records are kept accurate and up to date. Utilise the systems functionality to plan rail container movements.
  • Controlling internal truck access in GMS where VBS bookings are not required.
  • Handling of release & acceptance references for freight containers.
  • Customer responses within the ticket management system (freshservice)
  • Follow step by step diagnostics of common problems.
  • Perform general office admin duties.
  • Visually check containers and ensure hazardous goods are declared and properly labelled.
  • Providing first line support for terminal operatives.
  • Maintain accurate data within the VBS undertaking account creation & deletion where necessary.

Subject to competence/skill you may be required to perform any other tasks that are commensurate with your grade.

  • Must be prepared to work shift patterns across a 24/7 time-period.
  • Apply a diplomatic and tactful approach to resolving any associated conflict management situations.
  • Demonstrate a strong customer service focus.
  • Possess a good understanding of IT literacy and confidence with regard to associated responsibilities.
  • Highly organised and able to work to challenging deadlines whilst maintaining compliance.
  • Ability to work on own initiative and as part of a team together with the ability to problem solve for customers.
  • Ability to handle multiple requests and prioritise higher value items.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Accurate with the input of numerical data.
