Job Description:

About the role:

• Support the Head of Corporate Planning with strategic, financial, and technical advice to the organisation.
• Assist the Head of Corporate Planning and the Chief Accountant in preparing and producing the grouped accounts in accordance with statutory and reporting requirements.
• Contribute to core finance functions including budget and medium-term financial planning, managing the capital programme, bank and cash processes, reconciliations, and regulatory reporting.
• Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and banking and cash management functions.
• Provide advice on VAT Taxation & Pensions, Treasury Management, Statutory Accounts, and Collection Fund Accounts.

About You:

• Accounting qualification – CCAB membership or part-qualified and studying towards a CCAB qualification.
• Understanding of the political context and local government operations, including laws and regulations applicable to local government.
• Experience in delivering year-end accounting requirements to produce statutory accounts within deadlines.
• Experience in delivering MTFS, Capital programs, HRA budgets, and complex technical activities.
