Requirements

  • 3-4 years of experience in technical design/product development, production or merchandising, preferably in the outdoor/sportswear industry
  • Bachelor’s degree in textile/apparel/product design, patternmaking or similar
  • Knowledge and experience of fit, apparel construction, material construction, pattern making, bill of materials and surface applications
  • History with both European and Far East vendors and manufacturers
  • Proficient knowledge of Excel and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign)
  • Support Supply Chain through the development process
  • Works hand in hand with our compliance officer

The fast-growing business emphasizes innovation, creative design, and manufacturing partnerships. They seek an experienced Technical Product Developer to join their Midlands team to accelerate product development.

About The Candidate

The ideal candidate will be an expert in outdoor/performance/sportswear development with strong market knowledge. They will work closely with a customer-centric brand, understanding customer needs, sourcing, and strategic growth opportunities. They should be organized, self-motivated, enthusiastic, and passionate about excellence.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work with the product, compliance, and supply chain teams to create viable products for international markets.
  • Write and manage seasonal product briefs across multiple categories.
  • Manage multiple projects, including collaborations, capsule collections, and tweaks to existing ranges.
  • Create product packs and coordinate with suppliers to ensure successful execution before deadlines.
  • Participate in prototype reviews, evaluating samples.
  • Maintain style records and samples, avoiding conflicts with competitors.
  • Communicate regularly with factories and suppliers.
  • Support marketing and training materials creation.
  • Collaborate with teams across compliance, sales, finance, legal, brand, and marketing.
  • Stay informed on market trends, technologies, and design to keep the brand at the forefront.

The Product Developer will work with the Brand Director on apparel and accessories design, with opportunities to influence future development and expand into new markets. The role is based in Staffordshire, with typical 9-5 hours and occasional travel.
