Job Title: Principal Signal Processing Engineer

Location: Cowes, Isle of Wight

Salary: Circa £65k depending on skills and experience

Role Overview

Join a dynamic Principal Signal Processing Engineer role at the forefront of real-world demands in the defence industry. You will ensure operational excellence for existing products and develop next-generation radar products to counter emerging threats, contributing to our technology strategy. Your daily activities will be diverse, applying engineering principles across the entire development lifecycle to develop radar systems used by those who serve and protect us.

What You’ll Be Doing
  1. Supporting the design and development of a signal processing platform for next-gen radar systems, using Systems Engineering principles (ISO 15288).
  2. Collaborating with design leads, engineering teams, and stakeholders to align technical efforts.
  3. Managing system and sub-system requirements using IBM DOORS Next and creating design specifications.
  4. Building MATLAB models for algorithm development, testing, and performance validation.
  5. Planning and executing integration and testing of the signal processing platform within the overall radar system.
  6. Promoting best practices in design, modelling, and integration to deliver reliable and scalable radar solutions.
Skills and Experience
Essential
  • Strong understanding of Signal Processing algorithms and their implementation in real-time, software-driven environments.
  • Clear knowledge of the interaction between algorithms, software, and hardware platforms.
  • Proficiency in MATLAB modelling and applied mathematics.
  • Higher education qualification (or equivalent experience) in a STEM discipline.
Desirable
  • Experience applying complex Signal Processing techniques within radar system development.
