Job Purpose

Attraction Assistant - Retail

Temporary vacancy until December 2025 – includes weekends

Based: Trevor Basin Visitor Centre, LL20 7TY.

Salary: £24,782 pro rata

Working Hours: 784 annualised hours, Monday to Sunday.

Interview Date: Thursday 12th June

Role Start Date: Saturday 21st June

Our World Heritage Site Visitor Centre is a thriving and historic visitor attraction in North Wales, close to Wrexham and Llangollen. We aim to ensure all visitors have a fantastic welcome and a memorable visit.

We host exciting activities and events throughout the year and are looking to recruit individuals with a strong customer service focus, a welcoming approach, and flexibility to work at our welcome desk, in the on-site shop, and support various visitor activities.

As an Attraction Assistant, you will work in the retail area, providing a warm welcome to visitors from around the world. Your responsibilities include welcoming tour groups, selling merchandise, assisting with events, maintaining cleanliness, guiding families, engaging boaters, supporting demonstrations, and collaborating with volunteers.

This role involves administrative tasks such as inputting invoices, generating stock and leaflet orders, managing social media posts, and bank reconciliation. You will also supervise volunteers and ensure site safety during your shift.

Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications & Experience

If you care about creating memorable visitor experiences, we want to hear from you. You will work 3-4 days weekly in summer and 2-3 days in winter, including weekends and bank holidays. Full training and uniforms are provided.

Responsibilities of the Role
  • Provide a warm welcome and positive customer experience.
  • Sell retail items and support event activities, ensuring visitors feel valued and eager to return.
  • Prioritize customer excellence—be approachable, helpful, and responsive to inquiries at the welcome desk or via phone/email.
  • Promote and deliver special events.
  • Work flexibly across departments including welcome desk, retail, and administration.
  • Manage retail stock, including updates, replacements, and stocktaking.
  • Support administrative duties such as post distribution, delivery recording, social media scheduling, invoice input, and banking reconciliation.

Skills & Experiences
  • Experience in a customer-facing environment (retail, hospitality) and a strong understanding of excellent customer service.
  • IT skills—Microsoft Office, Internet, social media, and willingness to learn systems like SAP and DigiTickets.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills—courteous and helpful.
  • Ability to work under pressure during busy periods and thrive in a dynamic environment.
  • Attention to detail and workload management skills.
  • Ability to work independently to assist the Destination Supervisor.
  • Responsibility for site safety.
