Job description

Manchester University is now accepting applicants for the Peace Studies Coordinator. In this role, you would support and advance the nation’s oldest undergraduate Peace Studies program. Rooted in a legacy of nonviolence, social justice, and global citizenship, our Peace Studies program integrates rigorous academic inquiry with practical engagement. The Coordinator will play a vital role in enriching the program’s impact through academic, co-curricular, and community-based initiatives.

What You'll Do:

  • Organize and manage campus activities and special events
  • Develop and provide leadership for participation in off-campus conferences and other gatherings in support of peace and justice
  • Provide clerical support for university committees related to the Peace Studies Institute; supervise student workers; maintain social media and web-based publications
  • Assist select student-led organizations, and mentor students to develop skills related to peace and justice work
  • Represent the peace studies program to prospective students and audiences in the broader community
  • Residence at Peace House
  • Assist peace studies faculty in academic-related responsibilities such as grading exams and recording grades as needed

What You Need:

  • A commitment to fostering an environment of diversity and inclusion among students, faculty, and staff.
  • High School Diploma required. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Excellent organizational, written, and oral communication skills
  • Basic computer skills
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of peace and justice
  • Previous experience in campus organizing and activism
