About Us

GCHQ is an intelligence, cyber, and security agency with a mission to keep the UK safe. We utilize cutting-edge technology, ingenuity, and partnerships to identify, analyze, and disrupt threats. Working with our intelligence partners MI5 and MI6, we protect the UK from terrorism, cyber-attacks, and espionage. At GCHQ, you’ll engage in varied and fascinating work within a supportive and inclusive environment emphasizing teamwork.

The Role

As a Cyber Security Analyst, you’ll work with a close-knit team to protect our organization against cyber threats such as malware outbreaks, insider activity, denial-of-service attacks, and phishing. Your responsibilities include detecting, responding to, and mitigating risks, collaborating with technical teams, analyzing alerts, logs, network traffic, and endpoint data using tools like Splunk, and developing detection content. You will also utilize threat intelligence to proactively enhance our security posture and support security incidents through Digital Forensics. The scenarios you will face are unique and challenging, differing from private sector roles.

About You

You should have a passion for IT and cybersecurity, experience with scripting, an understanding of Windows and Linux OS, familiarity with Python, and an interest in developing skills in AWS and Azure. You must hold a foundational cybersecurity certification (e.g., CompTIA A+, Security+, GSEC, GCIH) or have at least 6 months experience in a cybersecurity role. Beyond technical skills, effective teamwork, communication, and problem-solving abilities are essential.

Training and Development

We support your growth through in-house and external training, including industry-recognized certifications from SANS and OFFSEC. You will be paired with a mentor and gain hands-on experience in cybersecurity, threat detection, and incident response. Opportunities for travel, conferences, and staying current with cybersecurity innovations are available but not mandatory.

Rewards and Benefits

Starting salary: £36,408 plus benefits such as 25-30 days annual leave, public holidays, performance recognition, interest-free season ticket loans, pension scheme, cycle-to-work scheme, on-site facilities, and paid parental/adoption leave.
