Band 6 Emergency Department Deputy Charge Nurse

Two exciting opportunities have arisen to join our Band 6 Deputy Charge Nurse Team within the Emergency Department. As a Deputy Charge Nurse working within the Emergency Department at the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh, you will be part of a multidisciplinary team responsible for assessing care needs, evaluating care plans, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care to patients. In the absence of a Senior Charge Nurse, you will have ongoing responsibility for managing the department, including supervising and deploying staff.

The post holder is responsible and accountable for maintaining clinical and staff governance. You will provide strong leadership, excellent communication skills, and support staff development with clinical expertise. You must be able to work effectively under pressure without compromising standards of care and professionalism.

Advanced clinical expertise is required, and participation in research and audit projects is encouraged. The role offers excellent managerial support and professional development opportunities.

You should demonstrate the ability to manage a dedicated team delivering nursing care of the highest standards while working under pressure. Significant post-qualification experience in emergency nursing or a relevant specialty is essential.

Hours: 37 hours per week, working rotational shifts over 7 days, including days and nights (12.5-hour shifts).

This position requires PVG Scheme membership/record. If not currently a PVG member for the relevant regulatory group, an application must be made to Disclosure Scotland and approved before starting.
