Job description

We are looking for a Senior Hardware Engineer on behalf of one of our Edinburgh based clients. This a very exciting opportunity to be working within a growing organisation, and work on interesting projects.

What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Invent & Build: Take ownership of electronic system design from initial concept to production-ready hardware.
  • Collaborate & Create: Work closely with business development to translate customer needs into technical solutions.
  • Design & Develop: Handle schematic design and PCB layout, selecting components that balance performance, cost, and availability.
  • Test & Validate: Use lab tools like oscilloscopes and multimeters to verify and refine your designs.
  • Review & Refine: Participate in design reviews and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Integrate & Innovate: Partner with firmware, software, and mechanical teams to ensure seamless integration of hardware into complete systems.
  • Document & Deliver: Prepare detailed design documentation and support the transition to manufacturing.
  • Support & Solve: Assist in developing production test strategies and troubleshooting manufacturing issues.

What you bring:

  • Mastery of Cadence Allegro/OrCAD tools.
  • Experience with high-speed SERDES (28G/56G PAM4).
  • Knowledge of power electronics, especially DC-DC converters.
  • Familiarity with high-speed memory interfaces.
  • Understanding of compliance standards (EMC, Safety).
  • Background in telecom/datacom hardware development.
