Primary Teacher - fixed term until 27/02/2026

Location: Kaimes School

Salary: £33,594 - £50,589

Hours: 35 per week

Kaimes is a special school based in the south-east of Edinburgh, catering to pupils with Autism and other complex needs. We serve a wide range of students from P7 to S6, achieving from Early to 4th Level and beyond.

We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate teacher to join us on a fixed-term contract to cover maternity leave. This role offers the opportunity to work in a small group setting, delivering individualised learning experiences with favourable support ratios and highly skilled support staff.

Our primary base-class structure means the teacher will primarily teach their base class, focusing on maths, literacy, health & wellbeing, and other curriculum areas. Excellent, creative teaching skills and the ability to provide high-quality, holistic pastoral care are essential.

The role also involves teaching other groups, such as cooking and practical life skills, in small group settings. The focus of these sessions may be flexible based on your skills and experience.

Experience working with young people with ASN needs or a thorough understanding of autism is essential. Knowledge of the SCERTS framework and a commitment to obtaining an up-to-date food hygiene certificate would be beneficial.

Salaries are in accordance with the Scheme of Salaries and Conditions of Service for Teaching Staff in School Education.

This position is regulated work with children and/or protected adults under the PVG Scheme (Scotland) Act 2007. The preferred candidate will need to join or update their PVG Scheme membership. Candidates with recent UK or overseas residence may require additional background checks. Employment is contingent upon satisfactory pre-employment checks.
