An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Media Production & Technology Lecturer at the City of Liverpool College. As part of the Digital, Media & Expressive Arts Academy, you will inspire students and contribute to excellence in teaching using innovative technologies.

You will create effective, stimulating learning opportunities through high-quality teaching, monitor student performance, and provide feedback. The role involves teaching courses from L1 to L3 UAL in Creative Media Production and Technology, including the new T-Level in Media Broadcast & Production, for a diverse cohort of 16–18-year-olds and adult learners.

Responsible to: Head of School

Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to college and curriculum strategic objectives and participate in annual reviews.
  2. Stay updated with national developments in your subject area.
  3. Plan, prepare, and deliver high-quality lessons to manage the learning process effectively.
  4. Use engaging teaching techniques to motivate students and promote independence.
  5. Create a safe, secure, and respectful learning environment.
  6. Establish procedures to promote appropriate behavior and communication, challenging discrimination.
  7. Mark and record student work in line with assessment policies.
  8. Track student progress and attendance.
  9. Employ diverse teaching styles and learning experiences.
  10. Understand and participate in external/internal assessment procedures.
  11. Improve communication skills for effective engagement.
  12. Collaborate with the Head of School on program design and teaching approaches.
  13. Support curriculum development and address students' English and Maths skills.
  14. Engage in professional development and incorporate innovation into teaching.
  15. Communicate with parents, carers, and students through various events.
  16. Ensure student compliance with college policies.
  17. Provide enriching and motivating opportunities for students.
  18. Support and welcome NQTs.
Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

Essential Skills:

  • A recognized teaching qualification
  • Excellent computer literacy and IT skills
  • Experience in curriculum planning, development, and delivery in creative media production
  • Commitment to professional development
  • Level 2 literacy and numeracy or willingness to achieve
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • High standards for self and students

Desirable Skills:

  • Degree in a relevant subject (Level 6 or above)
  • Relevant professional qualification
  • Experience in video journalism
  • Membership in a professional body
  • Experience assessing student needs and curriculum planning, including Technology Enhanced Learning
  • Understanding of curriculum development for employer training and quality assurance processes
