A new and exciting opportunity has arisen within the HSCP eHealth team for a Network Specialist.
The post holder will work within a small, proficient IT support team to provide specialized high-level networking services to the HSCP, covering all aspects of our data network and associated systems.
The responsibilities include managing and upgrading NHS Highland's network hardware (switches, firewalls, wireless infrastructure, telephony), including installation, de-commissioning, and firewall management, as well as ensuring network infrastructure security. The role involves working closely with NHS Scotland health boards, public bodies, partners, and the Argyll & Bute Council ICT networking team when necessary.
Candidates should possess a degree/HND or equivalent and have at least five years of experience in a similar role.
Experience working within large corporate network environments is essential. The ideal candidate will have a thorough understanding of large-scale network design, protocols, cybersecurity controls, infrastructure hardware, and proven hands-on troubleshooting skills.
The role requires regular travel across the HSCP and NHS Highland, including periods of unsocial hours.
The eHealth Department focuses on the development, application, and implementation of digital technology to enhance healthcare infrastructure, including local IT, cloud services, and clinical systems used for diagnosis and care pathways. It also involves policies and protocols to ensure data confidentiality and security, supporting major changes in working practices through training, support, and organizational development.
