Job description

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic Interim HR Director to lead and enhance the HR function for a client in south Wales. This role requires both strategic expertise and a strong ability to develop and improve HR operations, ensuring best practice across the organisation.
This role requires strong leadership, direction, and oversight to ensure HR operations are working effectively. You will be leading a hardworking HR team who need clear guidance, structure, and a strategic approach to drive improvements. With a workforce of around 700 employees, we need a confident HR leader who knows what good looks like and can ensure the HR operations are efficient, robust, and aligned with best practice.

The job
  • Strengthening HR operations to ensure efficiency, consistency, and compliance.
  • Providing strategic leadership while ensuring day-to-day HR functions run smoothly.
  • Driving improvements in absence management and handling employee relations effectively.
  • Supporting and challenging senior leaders to embed best-practice HR across the organisation.
  • Identifying areas for improvement and ensuring changes are implemented effectively.
The person specification
  • A seasoned HR Lead with experience in both strategic leadership and operational oversight.
  • A track record of strengthening HR functions and embedding high standards.
  • Strong expertise in managing employee relations and improving absence levels.
  • A decisive and supportive leader who can provide the HR team with clear direction.
  • Pragmatic, results-driven, and confident in driving meaningful change.
Salary
  • The role is likely to be for 6 – 12 months, potentially longer/permanent.
  • Salary is negotiable based on skills and experience.
