Locum Principal Commercial Contracts Lawyer and Team Leader – Hybrid Working – Initial 3+ months – Up to £80 per hour (umbrella) – Midlands

Venn Group’s specialist legal team is working with an established Local Authority in the Midlands seeking an experienced Principal Commercial Contracts Lawyer and Team Leader to join on a locum basis.

Role Overview:

• Rate: Up to £80 per hour (umbrella)
• Working Arrangements: Hybrid Working
• Duration: Initial 3+ months with potential for extension

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage a team of Solicitors and Legal Assistants
• Advise on strategic procurement matters, including framework agreements, major call-offs, and general commercial agreements
• Negotiate and advise on major projects, including multi-party ventures
• Manage contentious and non-contentious work on JCT and NEC contracts
• Provide clear strategic legal guidance on various commercial matters
• Collaborate with senior stakeholders across the Council and external partners

About You:

• Managerial experience is essential
• Experience in Local Government or Public Sector work
