Job summary

A leading hospital in London is seeking a Fellow in Neurosurgery to assist in patient care and surgical procedures. Qualifications

  • Eligible for registration with the GMC.
  • Substantial experience in general neurosurgery.
  • Close to completion of CCT.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the care of patients on the wards.
  • Assist in the operating theatre and attend appropriate clinics.
  • Contribute to the SpR duty rota.

Skills

Knowledge and experience in elective and emergency neurosurgery
Ability to prioritise clinical need
Ability to organise oneself & own work
Evidence of participation and active involvement in an audit project/research

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The Fellow's duties will comprise assistance with the care of patients on the wards, assistance in the operating theatre, attendance at appropriate clinics and review of appropriate literature and clinical data.

In addition, the Fellow will be given an opportunity to take part in the general neurosurgical activities, and will contribute to the SpR duty rota.

Essential criteria

  • Eligible for registration with the GMC
  • MBBS or equivalent
  • FRCS (Neurosurgery)

Desirable criteria

  • PhD, MD (original research)
  • CCT

Previous experience

Essential criteria

  • Substantial experience in general neurosurgery
  • At least close to completion of CCT
  • Experience in trauma neurosurgery

Desirable criteria

  • Exposure to functional neurosurgery
  • Commitment to a career in functional neurosurgery

Skills/Knowledge/Ability

Essential criteria
