The Role:

The Head of Digital Transformation Portfolio & PMO will oversee the effective running of the Digital Transformation Portfolio across a variety of waterfall and agile projects, programmes and change initiatives that underpin the University 2030 Strategy and the Digital Transformation Plan. They will ensure that robust but appropriate processes are in place to support the full portfolio lifecycle as well as the ability to effectively report on and manage the active portfolio of delivery including ensuring due attention is given to resource planning across LIS and wider business areas, and that risk management, budget management and benefits management are actively managed.

The post holder will be responsible for designing, delivering and continuously improving the University’s approach to the management of IS Enabled project and programme delivery. To this end, they will leverage national (e.g. UCISA) and international (e.g. EduCause) HE and technology specific networks, representing the University in gathering and sharing best practice and ensure continuous improvement.

Within the University they will be responsible for effective and rapid communication with portfolio and PMO management colleagues responsible for all other areas of delivery such as Strategic Planning, Estates and HR ensuring that multi-disciplinary projects and programmes are a success.

The post holder will have line management of the Digital & IT PMO team, which includes a variety of programme and project managers, business analysts and administrative support. They will be responsible for ensuring the team is working effectively, are adhering to best practice and internal guidance as well as following formal governance procedures. The role also line manages the Test Team and is responsible for ensuring adequate and appropriate test strategies are in place and best utilisation of resource to support the portfolio as well as high priority/risk business as usual activities.

Overall, the post holder is responsible for ensuring maximum value is delivered through the portfolio, its methods of delivery are well researched and cutting edge, that is aligned and supportive of University strategy and that end user and business needs are directly met, with opportunities to accelerate innovation and transformation being actively encouraged and the portfolio being managed in a flexible but assured manner.

Location

Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working is available for this role.
