Summary:

Responsible for the oversight of the day-to-day shipping department and preparing items for shipment.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Prepares items for shipment according to shipping orders.
  • Compares identifying information such as count, weight or description of outgoing shipments against shipping orders or other records.
  • Assembles shipping containers and inserts items into containers using appropriate filler. Stamps, stencils, or marks identifying information and shipping instructions onto containers.
  • Posts weights, shipping charges and affixes postage.
  • Routes items and stock to appropriate destination as requested.
  • Maintains shipping and receiving documentation in a neat and orderly manner.
  • Receives and records all incoming inventory distribution items and check-in items. Reports any discrepancies to management.
  • Performs part marking on all parts prior to shipments.
  • Maintains area in a clean, orderly, and safe manner.
  • Maintains and inventories all shipping materials.
  • Access customer portals to retrieve shipping info to create ASN.
  • Follow, Update, and maintain packaging and shipping work instructions.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Education and Skills Requirements:

  • Shipping and Receiving experience preferred.
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Organizational skills
  • Basic Computer Skills
  • Ability to pay attention to details.
  • Oral and Written Communication Skills
  • Ability to effectively communicate with fellow employees and customers.
  • Ability to work independently and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Customer Service Oriented and Professional demeanor.
  • Must have or have the ability to obtain a valid driver’s license.
  • Must have the ability to become certified to use a Forklift.
  • Must be able to effectively work well with all cross functions of the company.
  • Must be able to work last Saturday of each month and New Years Eve.

Working Conditions:

  • Normal Production environments, subject to high noise levels from operating machines; physical hazards from moving equipment and sharp machine parts; breathing fumes, dust, and mist; skin exposure to oil and cutting fluid; exposure to sharp metal edges, and forklifts.
  • May be asked to travel back and forth between Southwick and Westfield facilities.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must have ability to read applicable customer documents with or without corrective lenses.
  • Ability to move around shop and stand for 70% of the workday.
  • Frequently lift, carry, or move and position objects weighing up to 55 lbs.
  • Must be able to push, pull, reach overhead, stand, walk, climb stairs, bend and/or sit for long periods of time.
