Job Description

Reporting to: Engineering Team Leader

Reports: Monthly management team reports, project status reports, including commercial reports

Responsibilities
  1. Technically support a project from inception through the entire lifecycle of design and implementation, factory acceptance testing, and site acceptance testing.
  2. Assemble and configure control system products, including all interfaces to third-party systems, with a disciplined approach to system configuration, backup, and restoration.
  3. Configure IP public addresses and voice alarm systems to interface with control systems.
  4. Produce project-specific design and test documentation for control systems.
  5. Prepare all required customer and internal handover documentation.
  6. Create project-specific user reference documentation, maintenance manuals, and deployment guides.
  7. Understand company processes and operate within them.
  8. Design and support customer upgrade and migration plans.
  9. Troubleshoot and maintain a knowledge base for PAVA and control system products.
  10. Support service desk activities as required for in-service systems.
  11. Travel opportunities within the UK and internationally to support local teams during implementation and in-service support of customer projects.
Knowledge, Skills, and Experience Required
  1. Platform engineering expertise.
  2. Knowledge of Layer 2 and Layer 3 networking, with a good understanding of Multicast.
  3. Experience with Ubuntu or Debian-based Linux system administration, including technologies such as:
  • System services
  • PostgreSQL
  • XMPP inter-process communication
  • XML configurations
  • SIP and Asterisk
  • Bash scripting
  • Python programming
Education
  • Degree-level qualification in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, or a similar field.
  • Vocational and work-based learning experiences are also valued.
