Job Description:

Role summary: The successful candidate will support the warehousing and distribution operation by safely and efficiently shunting vehicles around the premises.

Key responsibilities:

  • Drive vehicles in a safe and legal manner ensuring compliance with all legal and site requirements.
  • Ensure that consideration is given to other drivers, colleagues, and pedestrians in the work area.
  • Ensure all daily checks are undertaken, defects are immediately reported, and associated paperwork completed.
  • Complete all necessary paperwork, such as movement sheets, on time and in full.
  • Be respectful to other road users and members of the public, ensuring the reputation of the business is protected at all times.
  • Observe company rules and procedures as defined in the shunter pack and other policies, such as site rules.
  • Ensure all personal protective equipment (PPE) used is in good order and utilized as instructed.
  • Ensure all operations are undertaken in line with the relevant SSOW.
  • Continuously seek to improve processes and services.
  • Ensure all vehicles are checked for defects prior to use and report any issues immediately.

Essential Criteria:

  • Held a HGV 1/C+E Licence for a minimum of 2 years.
  • No more than 6 points, no DD/DR code convictions.
  • Hold a current valid DCPC Card.
  • Understand and able to comply with Drivers' hours and WTD legislation.
  • Able to understand and carry out necessary vehicle checks to ensure safety and report defects correctly.
  • Comply with on-site health and safety requirements.
