What will you be doing?

When you join us as an apprentice, you will:

  1. Complete an apprenticeship course relevant to the role, to suit your current education level. At the end of the programme, you will gain a qualification in this field as well as practical skills and hands-on experience.
  2. Join our Trainee Development Programme, where you will be given training and tools to develop your skills through a series of modules over 18 months, followed by a graduation event.
We offer apprenticeships from a level 3 to a degree level, fully funded by Galliford Try, tailored to your current education level and course entry requirements.

As a Health, Safety & Environmental Apprentice, you will work closely with your manager and team to assist in the safe planning, delivery, and review of health, safety, and environmental aspects across various projects in construction and facilities management industries.

You will:
  • Assist the HS&E Advisors and wider department as required.
  • Assist in weekly workplace inspections and the monthly Site Safety Environmental Review (SSER).
  • Attend weekly HS&E and Site Operations Meetings.
  • Help promote a positive HS&E culture aligned with Galliford Try’s Challenging Beliefs and Affecting Behaviours programme.
  • Support the pre-qualification process of subcontractors via the company onboarding system.
  • Help monitor site compliance with statutory HS&E responsibilities and the Business Management System (BMS).
  • Assist in developing and implementing HS&E improvement plans.
  • Review project Construction Phase Plans (CPP), Risk Assessments, and Method Statements (RAMS) with HS&E Advisors.
  • Assist in reviewing site procedures and practices.
  • Gain exposure to incident investigations and incident report formulation.
  • Report HS&E concerns to the relevant senior staff.
  • Manage HS&E documentation uploads to electronic systems.
  • Assist in HS&E Induction processes and collect Drugs & Alcohol (D&A) samples.

This role is available for a Summer 2025 start, with potential for an earlier start date. You may work in and around the advertised location and travel to other projects across the UK.
